Founder of zedtopia. Hi. I want to make a place where people can actually interact with civilization on the internet, without having to make the whole system a slave to ad sales.

More than 5 billion people would die of hunger following a full-scale nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia, according to a global study led by Rutgers climate scientists that estimates post-conflict crop production.

On a very real note, this is an issue with nuclear energy programs and diplomacy.
Nuclear non proliferation treaties and efforts rightfully seek to limit the number and eventually completely disarm all nuclear weapons in the world.
At the same time, nuclear fusion technology is the universe's most common, natural method of energy creation. Indeed even solar energy is just capturing the energy of nuclear fusion happening in our sun.
If we allow energy research in our own countries we can't ban it elsewhere. That's hypocritical.
That being said, the case against it is that even micronuclear fusion reactor research could ultimately create micro-stars. However even micro stars would be objects of massive gravity -- that gravity is used in space leading to higher collisions, friction and heat buildup, eventually reaching the millions of degrees required for fusion.
In film Doc Ock in the Tobey Macguire Spiderman Movies represented this pursuit, and Spiderman ultimately had to stop it.
In reality, electromagnetic fields are being pursued as ways to perhaps have nano reactors safely shielded and rein in unweildly plasma...
Entanglement is much safer but also immensely powerful once fully understood, and may change the course of humanity much like nuclear physics did.
When you're producing a physical item, Solidworks, or a solid geometry cad tool with CAE support is the best choice. I can't simulate the strength of a object or jewelry item with Rhino or evaluate how elastic a shoe needs to be, or any of that.
As the founder of Unlimit3d I already studied every single 3d modeling tool to see which is best for designers who make real objects, not just game assets, and arrived at this conclusion.
As a professional I would probably resell SW and Keyshot to people as a VAR or buy them to use for client modeling and rendering services.
For the open source community, I hope Blender's parametric mode and UI can get cleaned up and simplified with cleaner icons and tooltips that actually explain whats happening.
I think the Blender parametric mode should essentially become Libreworks. It may not do all the CAE but it should at least produce a clean solid geometry that can be exported to other open source CAE for example insight cae for cfd openfoam analysis.
Just like how we have Microsoft Office and Libre Office, we should have Solidworks and LibreWorks.
Libreworks would allow me to finally go full Linux as a 3d modeler, like I would as a software developer.
I once had a software dev interview and the dev judged me for having windows operating system, because they never did 3d modeling and saw no need for a developer to have windows -- they rightfully pointed out that it was a highly insecure operating system.
The issue is Solidworks isnt even made for any other operating system and Onshape is inaccessible without wifi.
Thus we need Libreworks in order for engineers to not have all their IP stolen or exposed.
